One-to-one Friendship Relationships
A Project One-2-One Friendship requires the volunteer to meet with their assigned friend for a minimum time of four (4) hours per month with a one year commitment. Obviously more time can be spent with one's friend, and the program boasts of several mentors maintaining their friendships for four, eight, and even fifteen years.
Project One-2-One views these relationships as traditional friendships with plenty of give and take on both sides. Although the majority of our clients come from a low income, inner-city background, we encourage them to learn the value of friendship and the mentor is not to absorb the entire expense for their activities. A calendar of events is sent monthly with low-cost or no-cost activities throughout the community, and Project One-2-One also provides various acquired movie passes, restaurant certificates and sporting event tickets.
